DowntOnline is now CLOSED

Hello everyone. I’m here with a very sad news: the site is now closed. It wasn’t a decision taken by me, but I was “forced” to. I got an email from Carnival’s (owners of Downton Abbey) lawyers in which they told me (in a 4-page pdf) that the use of the word Downton in the site name and domain, and Downton Abbey in the various tagline I used for the site (like “Your best source for everything Downton Abbey”) was a copyright infringement and I had to close the site and give the domain to them otherwise they would have sued me. So, it’s not really that I had a choice. I really don’t know what to say. I’ve put my heart and soul in this site, I’ve spent time and money for keeping it updated with news and exclusives images. I basically was helping them promoting their show, since it’s not that I was being paid or anything, I was doing it for the fans because I wanted to give them (you) a source where they could find everything they wanted about their favorite tv show, since it’s pretty hard find stuff about this particular series. But that’s it. The site will be closed soon, together with the facebook page and twitter account. This page will be closed asap as well, I just want to be sure that people read this first. I really don’t wanna have nothing to do with the show anymore. I still love it, and I will watch the next season but mostly for the actors, because for the rest, I don’t think this is the way to thanks the fans. Too much drama I know, but right now I’m sad, upset and mad at them.

You can always find me taking care of my other sites, my collective is here: NowhereLand9.

(I apologize for the errors.)

Here’s come the 5th DowntOnline giveaway! As usual, participate is easy, all you have to do is leave a comment on this post and once the contest is due (on January 18th) I’m going to randomly choose 5 winners. Then I will need your address and we’ll send you your copy of the book. Contest open to US residents only. » About the book: When former nanny Maddie McGlade receives a letter from the last of her charges, she realizes the time has come to unburden herself of a secret she has kept for more than seventy years: the truth behind the death of Charlotte Ormond, the four-year-old daughter of the wealthy household where Maddie was employed as a young woman. Based on chilling events that actually took place in the north of Ireland in 1892, The Butterfly Cabinet is a sterling example of dark, emotionally complex fiction. The book is being named Favorite Novel of 2012 by Julian Fellowes (creator and executive producer of Downton Abbey). Good luck to everyone! SPREAD THE WORD! :D (and remember: the contest is open to US residents only.)

Anonymous said: Yes but a major part of the last 3 Seasons has been about Mary and Matthew so to me, it makes it a farce if now they split up or something. It sounds ridiculous particularly as in Season 3 they were so in love as a married couple. Any ideas how it will work?

It’s not really to me to say how it could work, I have no ideas and I’m not one of the runners of the show :P but maybe you could be interested in this article.

Anonymous said: So if Dan leaves that has so many repercussions on other actors especially Mary. I can't see how this will work ,can you?

I do. I believe Julian Fellowes is great in what he does and I think he would be able to make it work :)
